ABOUT NANCY:
Discovering the story behind the story is most interesting to Nancy Ashley. She often sees humor in human frailties and believes with William Faulkner that the "conflicts in the human heart" produce most of the drama in daily life. She has her audience laughing one minute and pausing to think seriously the next. To motivate lifelong learning in her listeners is her goal.
PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY:
Nancy was born in Grenada, Mississiippi, the only daughter among four brothers. She earned her B.A. degree at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, MS, where she was elected “Miss MSCW” (Mississippi State College for Women) by the student body her senior year.
As a newlywed in Nashville, TN, in 1971, she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching at Vanderbilt University and taught ninth grade English until her two daughters were born.
In 1980, Nancy moved to Dallas, Texas, where her husband Bill, now retired, was an international pilot and Check Airman for American Airlines.
For 32 years Nancy served as a popular leader of Bible studies, church organizations, and world mission trips. She is an active member of the Dallas Woman’s Club, the Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, The Shakespeare Study Club, the Mentor Club, and a dance clubs -- The Calliope Club. She is a former Regent of the Highland Park Chapter of DAR (2011 - 2015) and and a member of Colonial Dames XVII (Seventeenth Century).
